Is the M&P Shield a proven defensive pistol? By proven I mean has been able to withstand documented abuse and neglect while being able to fire consistently?

I have a Shield in 9mm now and love how it disappears when carried, but was thinking about making a switch to something else that has been around longer and has a more proven track record.

Have any torture test been conducted on the Shield?

Do'nough.   But it is snowing out.

Take yours, rinse it in dishwasher powder and water slurry, shovel road salt on it, and then tie to a string and drag behind your pickup for 3.51 nautical miles.  Let sit out back in the storm drain for a week.  Report back after firing test.

I have run mine in some sandy and dusty conditions with crap ammo. Have yet to have a single malfunction. I trust it.

James Yeager had a video of him saying that the m&p shield is good to go. He ran upwards of 7000 rounds through it. Even me who shoot often. That's 5 years of shooting. James is a glock nut like myself. If he thinks it's g2g , you should be fine.

yep, I bought mine after Yeager's review.  So far Ive had a few issues but they were all within the first few hundred shots.  Haven't had a reason to complain for a few months, but Ill admit I haven't given this little baby the attention she deserves cuz I went crazy at the end of last year and bought way more high end guns than I probably should have.  That and my problems with my Sig 938 (sold it off as I didnt trust that POS) have taken up most of my range trips for the last 4-5 months.  Still, I like my shield.

I did notice that the white in my Shield sights seems to be chipping/falling out.  Not sure why since I sure as hell dont pick at it.
