I have a question about the function after the APXDCAEK install.

I have to pull the striker back manually in order to get the USB to pop up all the way so it blocks the striker moving forward.

then The striker is blocked. I push the USB in and the striker can move forward

now when I let the USB go, the USB does not come up all the way and the striker is not blocked unless I pull the striker back a hair and then then the USB pops up.

Is this normal? Is this the click for the trigget reset?

this is not what is shown in the video  instructions, but also does not look like an APEX USB when he does it.

Tech support says it is normal, but I did not get a warm fussy talking to her about it.

thanks for the help.

I have to push the USB in to allow the striker to move forward
then when I let go of the striker it moves all the way to the rear
by itself and the USB pops out.

any idea what the problem might be.

Your spring could be pinched under your rear sight after installing the USB.

I was very careful to keep thatfrom happening, but I guess I have ro take off the sight and do it again, maybe some grit got in the USB.

After I get the spring and black plastic cap (or older metal cap) underneath the Talon Tactical tool, I always test the striker block for full function. Next I install the rear sight part of the way and test the striker block again. Then I finish installing the rear sight and test one last time for function.

the spring is not bent.

even with the original parts it does the same thing.

with the installation tool and not the sight onit dies the same thing.

I did not check this before I took it apart, so now I do not know what is going on.

after firing, does something pull the striker back or does it come back just from the striker spring?

The sear engages and partially pretensions the striker.

I took out the striker and ckeaned out the striker sleeve and put it all back together, I can't find anything wrong.

does that reset the trigger?

if it does, then there is nothing wrong with what my gun is doing, I think.

everything I have read says if I take the slide off, I should not be able to move the striker forward unless I push down on the striker block.

with mine, If I take the slide off, the striker will not move. If I push the striker block down it stays down and the striker can move, until I push ever so slightly down on the striker or slightly back. Then the striker block pops up and the striker can not move forward.

I had the same freak out when I installed the USB in my Pro and Shield. When I pulled the striker back and released then the USB blocked it. My take on it is as follows.

Every time the slide cycles in live fire, it resets the striker to a position where the USB successfully blocks it. I make sure when I install the USB that the striker is pulled back so the USB clears it going into the channel. Add spring and rear sight and your striker should not move. If it does, then you definitely have an issue.

The only way what you are describing could pose a safety issue would be if during live fire the striker was not reset. That would be an actual malfunction.

Rack your slide, so the striker is cocked as it would be if the gun was actually loaded, and field strip your M&P (properly not pulling the trigger to get the slide off). You will see that the USB does its job as it would if you were carrying with a live round in the chamber.

do you mean release the slide by pushing down on the sear disengage lever? when I do that,  when I take off the slide the USB is down, to get it up I either have to pull back on the striker or push down on the striker.

It does this same thing with the original USB and spring put back in it.

If I keep the striker pulled back ever so slightlt the USP moves up and down freely.

when I disasemble it properly without pulling the trigger, as I slide the slide off, the USB gets depressed by the trigger bar and the USB stays in the down position and the striker can move forward.

I think I have a defective striker.

If I take off the back plate and push slightly on the white part, the striker is stopped by the striker block and I can push the SB down and it pops right back up instead of staying down.

Mine does this too. If I don't pull the striker back just very little, the USB stops the striker and does not go all the way down. it gets caught.

this is exactly why it des not pop up when pushed down, it gets caught. ( when the slide is fully assembled )

according to the armorers manual check on the striker block, the test is down to confirm striker block function with the striker pulled all the way back and then slowly released.

mine passes the check, so It is GTG.

seems to be a lot on the net about people having the same questions as me.

if the striker is all the way back, and the block is down and you cant push or get the striker forward, its functioning fine.  Very simple part, very simple process.
