| I went by one of the LGS today and saw a few older S&W revolvers. I grew up shooting my Dad's model 19 and 66 so I always stop and look when I see one. This place had a run of the mill 19-5 for $600. The guy that owns this place has always pegged me as the type who is more than willing to rip off anyone that walks in the door. I really wanted to ask him why the gun was valued at $600 and had faded bluing and nothing else, no box, no original papers. Anyways I was just shocked that he was willing to ask that much. The odd thing is people always talk about what a good deal this place has. Needless to say I just look when I go there. |
| Check the Guns For Sale over at the Smith & Wesson Forum and you will get a much better idea of what condition and rarity (old 4-screw M19's etc) will bring. If it sells within an hour or two, price is probably too low and if it is still there after several days, price is probably too high (with some special models excepted). IMO a standard, blued 4 or 6in 19-5 (no P&R) with faded bluing and no box or papers would not get me to go over $400-450, but then I have two already... |
