| Just took my brand new Shield 9 to the range. 150 flawless, accurate rounds. I think my search for the nearly perfect off duty has ended. Love my 9c., but it's just a little too thick to be truly comfortable. My Bodyguard .380 has had some teething issues (messed up mag spring, light strikes on certain ammo, the latest is a missing laser button). I like it and will carry it when I can't carry the Shield, but the Shield is a real gun with 7+1 of 9mm that disappears when worn IWB. Love this gun |

I love mine too. Shoots great.
I bought an Apex sear and did the Burwell trigger job on mine. Its nice. http://www.burwellguns.com/misc/M&Ptriggerjob.pdf |
| Was in a LGS and was looking around and the sales girl (no pics but very attractive) told me Smith was having an event at their store on Saturday. I kind of figured they'd have at least one Shield 9mm. I was driving by on Friday night and said to myself I might as well stop in, maybe they got the guns early. Well, they did, and sold 7 Shields in the 2 hours before I got there. I got the last 9mm. I am so glad I stopped by! They have a .40 Core in the case, as well as various other M&P's. They must have had 50 or 60 Smith boxes piled up behind the counter. 2 weeks later they were almost all gone, the Core was still in the case......Hmmmmm.....Just kidding, I am done for a while. Paid $449, a bit much, but I wanted it and wasn't going to let $50 stand in the way. |

Congrats on the Shield. It's a great little carry gun.
My Shield 40 has probably 500 rounds thru it. One failure to eject fully was caused by crap WW white box ammo, but other than that it has been flawless. It is accurate and reliable. Great pistol. Mine has a CT laser. That was a good addition. |

Is the thumb safety stiff to switch on and off? In photos it looks pretty thin to thumb swipe, especially if you have been trained in glocks and it accidentally comes on IWB I was a little worried about that myself at first but I have found it quite easy flip it off. If you are worried about it getting flipped on while carrying just practice sweeping it when you draw. |

I dont want to use the safety, I just want to make sure that the detent isn't so weak that it comes on when not wanted. Of course training that manual of arms will definitely be needed whether I use the safety or not because Murphy is a pain in the ass, but all the training in the world wont mean anything if the safety lever is too thin. |

After about 9 days waiting for my "instant" back ground check I was able to pick up my Shield. Very easy to conceal and light. Shot it two days ago put about 140 rounds down range. I had one that didn't eject all the way, I might have limp wrist it. Took a little to settle in to my groove, I would shoot one round center mass, then one round low. I think I was pushing it. The last 40 I had a very tight group, I did slow down a little from my normal shooting. Now where can I get some 8 round magazines? Seems like everyone is out.

Good choice, OP.
My 9mm Shield is so perfect for carry, I honestly have a hard time imagining that I would carry anything else. I probably paid a little too much for mine, but I didn't go full retard just - more like 3/4 retard. I don't think about it when I am shooting it, though. After dropping in an Apex kit and installing some Ameriglo i-dots, it is the ultimate carry pistol for me. |

I put 150 of FMJ and another 50 or so of Gold Dots through my Shield this past weekend. My only failure to eject was during the second magazine after I started shooting it single-handed. Another 70+ rounds were flawless after that. I attribute it to limp wristed as well. |
