Took my second Shield 9mm to the range today, first time.
In the first 80 rounds or so I had five or six light strikes with WWB; in the second 70 rounds I had one with Federal HST, none with WWB. Opinions? Try again before sending it back? Has anyone experienced or heard of Shield light strikes? I have had no problems with the first Shield. ... |

Did you lube/oil the striker? Don't. It will cause light strikes. Learned this the hard way on my full size after my first detailed clean. Removed the oil and its been flawless for 2000 rounds.
I have also seen this more on WWB at iDPA matches on a variety of guns. Not the highest quality. |

Well to circle back to this; made it to the range again today.
110 rounds today with no light strikes; this in addition to the maybe 50-60 at the end of the first session. Seems to have been some type of newness issue at this point. Real pleased with the accuracy and feel of the Shield. |
| Had 1 lite strike on my 9mm shield on wally (100 rounds) world winchester 115gr. ammo after about 150 reloads (mine no problems). This about halfway thru 100 winchester rounds. Looked at the primer and it looked like it hit toward the edge. Put the round back in and it fired fine. Fired the rest on the 115gr winchester and about 150 more reloads, no problems. From my reloading days, winchester and remington primers are 'harder' than federal but not as hard as CCI. Don't know if this had anything to do with it or the primer may not have been fully seated at the factory. All this was from a new shield just the way it came from S&W. Also shot about 75 Federal hydrashok 147gr, for use in ccw. |
