I recently purchased a 5" M&P Pro 9mm.  When I first got it the trigger felt gritty on the take up but the break felt crisp and clean.  I installed an Apex Ultimate Striker Block and the grittiness was gone.  My question is the Pro model trigger better than a standard M&P?  This is my first M&P and I don't know if there is a difference between the standard and the Pro.  I like the trigger now but I am thinking about the Apex FSS Trigger kit but don't know if it will make the Pro model any better.  Thought I might ask before spending the money on the FSS Kit.  I don't want to spend the money to only get a marginally better trigger.

I bought a standard M&P last week and was comparing it to a Pro model, the Pro trigger had a long gritty take-up but a decent let off, the standard trigger felt more like my Glocks.

I figured I would eventually replace most of the parts with Apex stuff, so saw no reason to spend more on an upgraded sear in the Pro just to replace it.

there is a difference. The pro trigger has a lighter pull. if you look at the sear you can see a physical difference in shape and color. What is your use for the gun? there is a huge change. I cant say the FSS is a improvement over the pro trigger +striker block( because i like it). Is there a need for he FSS i would say no but if you want it it is nice. I bought the FSS because i wanted a ESP class gun and wanted to keep my 9pro in SSP. I have a FSS in my 40 pro and it is pretty nice as a comp gun.  the pull is only 3.25 pounds and minimal takeup and barely any overtravel.

The only difference in triggers between the standard M&P and Pro is that the Pro has a different sear that gives it a lighter pull and shorter reset (at the expense of a longer take-up). The rest of the trigger components (spring, striker block, etc) are the same.

I got a Pro, but replaced it with a standard model after shooting it

Pro trigger

That was my reaction after trying the Pro trigger, same with a couple of guys who work in the gun store.  They actually thought there was something wrong with the gun it felt so weird.  The long gritty take up really sucked.

My Caracal F is the only striker fired gun that I own that has virtually zero take up, and has a really good trigger.

I use the Pro for 3 gun and steel challenge.  Once I got the grittiness out of the take up (with the Apex USB), I actually like the trigger pull.  Or I should say I like the break of the trigger.  The take up took some getting use to but with a few thousand dry fires I have become accustomed to it.  It was a little difficult at first.  I shoot a lot of 1911's and HK Experts.  Just wanted to know if it was worth it to install the Apex FSS kit.  I can get a LEO discount at Brownell's so the cost would be $149 plus shipping and I thought I would get the Apex RAM for a more positive reset while I had the pistol stripped down.  A guy that I have shot with has the FSS and says it is the greatest.  However, he never offered to let me try it.

I'd really like to try the FSS before dropping the money on it.

The FSS is a good trigger, but to me it isn't outstanding.
