M&P 45, full size.  Sometimes I cannot seat a full mag (10 rds) into the gun.  Almost always happens when the weapon is "cold" and once I start firing then it seems fine, though has happened maybe once or twice when the gun was "hot".  Haven't narrowed it down to specific mags (some from S&W and some from Botach Tactical).  Doesn't seem to matter.

Thoughts?

how many rounds do you have through the gun and mags? do you have the mags numbered to help find out if it is one or two mags that are causing the problem? does the gun have any problem with one less round in them(9)? does the gun have any problem releasing the mags?

New mags?

If so, leave them loaded and lest the spring seat.

My M&P45 was like that until I had let some mags stay loaded for a while.

Agreed.

All of my M&P 45 mags were like that when new. They loosened up eventually.

All of my M&P's do this except for one mag in my 9mm.

Although I have had some mags for years now they have not gotten any better.

So I just try doubly hard to slam home a topped off mag.

Sorry for the delay, been offline. Thanks for the responses.  I have about 1K through the gun.  The mags are kept stored loaded and I've been using the gun pretty regular since it came back from Dan Burwell in January.  Problem was only recent though, didn't know it last month at all.

I haven't numbered the mags but I'll do that and see.  I did have one mag I labeled because it would only ever take 9 rounds, until the day it took 10.  I think you're probably right here.  I'll do it.

Never have a problem seating one with only 9 or less in.

Thanks everyone!

So it was ok before it when to Burwell?

Don't know for sure.  I put less than 50 rounds through it and the stock trigger is total garbage, shipped it out.  Bought some more mags in the interval too.  Doubt it was him.  Pretty certain, since it's intermittent, that it's mag related.

I wouldn't say the stock trigger is garbage.

The reason I asked is that I have given quite a few factory sears to people that had a Burwell job done, only to have their triggers go south, rendering their guns useless.

Didn't know if he messed with anything else.

I would buy a Apex sear before sending my M&P to him.

Does the mag seat easy,  with it loaded one round less than full?

Stock trigger was pretty bad, but that's just me.  All he did was his standard job, which is basically just polish.  Doesn't swap out any parts.  Much improved now.

All mags seat fine one round down.  Haven't numbered and run the mags since my last post, had the house tore apart for a day.  Hurray.

I would load them and let them sit. It sounds like a case of just being new mags.

+1  sounds like a spring is putting a good amount of pressure on the full mag causing it to not want to seat. I have the same problem with a brand new mag i just got of 44mag.com with my mp 9mm, also have similar problems on my AR with new mags. I usually load them up all the way or as far as i can get it and let it sit for quite awhile, this usually helps as well as loading/unloading the mag over time.
