Hi All,

New to the site, new to ARs, but I've had my S&W M&P 40 for about a year now. Only have 500 rounds or do through her because I don't get to the range as much as I'd like, but not a single hiccup thus far.

My only question is, what's a good tactical light that doesn't stick out too far past the barrel?

Welcome to the site and glad to have you!  How much are you looking to spend on a light?  Streamlight TLR-3 runs around $80-100 depending on where you can find it, is pretty bright and it doesn't extend past the muzzle.  I think Insight makes one that is a little smaller as well.  Surefire lights need at least a 5 inch barrel so the light sits flush with the muzzle.

Then your best bet is to get the TLR-3 and spend that extra money on some batteries for it.
