I have a nice 1917 commercial in great shape but the SA trigger is dangerously light.  Also I can push off the hammer with moderate thumb pressure when its cocked, so i have to get this fixed.  I dont want a DAO gun.

Anyone have experience with this problem?  what kind of repair am i looking at?  who would you send it to

You need a new hammer, trigger or both.
Be sure to check the screw at the bottom of the front strap- make sure it is tight.

Parts are still available in a couple places- try Gun Parts Corp. in W. Hurley N.Y.

Go here and ask. You need a GOOD S&W smith who understands how to do this...you most likely do not need new parts, which will be difficult to find at best (actually there are NO new parts available any more for your revolver...they are all used stock)
