I have an old Model 29 Hunter Classic (~20 years old) that has a scope rail.  It was passed down to me, so I don't know the details on it.  What I wanted to know was if the rail on that model came from the factory.  My cylinder retaining pin walked out, and the rail's retaining screw stripped, so I wanted to see if the factory would cover warranty work on both of those items.

The blued Classic Hunter ( what I have) didn't come with a rail. This was Smiths first attempt at upgrading the 29,
or,as they called it, the Endurance Package. Next up was longer cuts in the cylinder for the bolt. All they had was
the full underlug and the 4 position adjustable front sight. I can't visualize what you mean by a cylinder retaining
pin, do you mean the screw at the front of the sideplate which holds the crane in place? They may fix that for free
call and ask. As for the stripped screw ,probably not as that's an aftermarket item. I'd post a pic of mine to show
you 1 which is bone stock but photobucket is giving me fits for some reason tonight, maybe later.

ETA:
Ok, bottom righthand corner. Model 29 Classic Hunter. Bone stock. Hogue Monogrip right from the factory.
I bought this new in '87 or '88 ( don't remember exactly ).

Yea, I meant the screw that holds the crane in place.  Thanks for the info, that helps a lot!
