The sticky in the Springfield forum says that the 9mm and .40 XD magazines are the same size and that the .40 magazine can accept more rounds of 9mm than the standard 9mm magazine. Is this the case with the PX4? It looks like the 9mm and .40 versions use the same frame and thus the magazines would also be interchangeable. P.S.: Yes I searched first)

I think we would have heard about that here before if that were the case. There is interchangeability, but that's between the PX4 and the CX4, which can take either 92 or PX4 mags. (Either from the factory, or via a table top conversion insert (not in the field)) The CX4 in .40 and .45 can take some other type mags. There is NO cross caliber interchangeability as far as I know. |

People say 9mm and .40 magazines interchange... I would not do it (I have tried it with mixed results on my 92). Doubt you would fit more than 17 rounds in a 14 rounder... nor would you want to cram more in.
The 9mm and .40 CX4 can accept three types of magazines; 92/96, Cougars, and PX4s. The inserts/releases are the same for either the 9mm or the .40 (different between the three types). The .45 version can only accept the Cougar magazines (no word about anything for the .45 PX4). If you don't like the eight round magazines, there is a project on BerettaForum to make extensions/higher capacity magazines (15 rounders, from what little I've read). |
