I'm so excited I just picked up a new M9. I need more mags, But which ones are good?
So far I've seen CMI and Airtronic mags, Could you guys tell me which ones are better/more desireable? Also who makes good higher cap mags in the 20 to 30 round range? Your info will be greatly appreciated |

Mec-Gar.....the 18's fit flush, and the 20's stick out just a bit. Excellent mags. There were problems with the checkmate mags years ago concerning sand iirc, but I believe that this problem has been long since solved / fixed. I've had excellent performance out of my mec-gar's.

| Yeh, I forgot about that, they're dated on the side of the mag. They made a change at some point. I believe it was just a finish change, making them smoother, but not exactly sure. I also believe the change was desert/sand related, which isn't a major issue if you aint in a desert. Mine are dated 2/04, I know this is after the change and these are good mags. |

I have a mix of checkmate & airtronics mags from various years. None have given me any problems. And when I do use them, I use them hard.
I only have 2 factory mags that came with the gun. I have 2 of the 20 rounds mags as well. They do stick out a little, but function fine. |

I hit all the gun shops around Ft. Riley and I've got a buttload of Airtronics and Checkmates CHEAP!!!
Some of them are the aforementioned trouble mags. A buddy of mine, who was downrange when that debacle happened, has fixed all mine by tearing them apart, bead blasting down to bare metal refinishing with ceracote. Seems to work good, last long time. |

Everyone here in NC wants like 25 bucks each.

Everyone here in NC wants like 25 bucks each. ![]() LAst time I bought them I got them in quantity for $8 apiece. 30 round M16 mags are going for $10-15. Find your closest Army Post (Bragg?) and hit all the pawn and gun shops. That's what I'm doing |

I've been a lucky duckling. I have never found a mag that my 92 didn't like. There use to be a guy on the EE selling Airtronics for like 4 NIB/$25 shipped. Not sure if he is still selling them. Never tried CM mags. Beretta marked mags, MDS (owned by Beretta Holdings), Mec-Gar(use to make Betetta mags, still make mags for folks like SIG and others), are where I would look to stock pile. T ought to beat the prices at CDNN, unless a deal can be found on the EE. I don't think anyone listed above, made higher than 20 rd mags. I have some 30s from before the ban, USA brand, they have worked, but I wouldn't carry them when it counted. YMMV
