How do I tell the difference between the 92F and the 92 FS?

Er, look at the model # on the gun? The physical difference is the slide has a slight bump on the FS models on the underside of the slide. I've not seen a "92F" slide side-by-side so I can't tell you where it is.

I didn't think that they made the F model anymore.  I thought the FS model was the current upgraded model that has the slide stop if the slide ever cracked at the lock up area.

On the FS model, the hammer pin has a large outer ring/stop that rides in a groove on the rear-bottom of the non-ejection port side of the side. To see the groove, just lock the slide back, and look at the bottom of the slide for the groove.

It isn't a 92FS unless it says 92FS on the pistol.

Absolutely correct, but that doesn't help much if you're looking at used pistols.

Heres a side by side, FS on left and F on the right.
