So, I saw one of thesse at the local Sportsman's Whorehouse (Warehouse) and got to handle one.  It was comfortable, and all the comtrols are pretty damn close to my 92.  To top it all off... it was $599.  So what's the catch.  I have looked here, and I can't find a range report on them.  I have read they have all sorts of cool parts, like interchangeable backstraps, and a trigger that can be reconfigured for DAO, DA/SA, and stuff.

So what's the scoop?  I have a 92, and a 1201 shotgun.  I may as well branch out to .45 with my favorite manufacturer, unless ofcourse there is a reason not to.

Thanks for any info.

the safety is sharp when you want to slingshot the slide

No doubt. This, so far is my only complaint about my newly traded PX4 Storm in 40 cal. The first time I tried to rack the slide, I just about lacerated my thumb on the safety/decock lever.

I had the chance to shoot an M&P in 45 and the PX4 in 45 side by side.  I ended up buying the Beretta.  The PX4 seemed to shoot softer than the M&P.  I've put 1200 rounds through mine so far without any problems.  I haven't messed with the backstraps as the one that were already on it fit me fine.  If you're thinking about getting one, I say do it.
