sorry, i guess it would make sense if i said what beretta pistol i have.
i have the 92fs. the front sight has a left lean to it and it actually does
affect the accuracy. im not sure if i should go banging on the front sight
to try and "align" it correctly, so i figured id ask for some help.

[#3]
You can't align it. You have to mill the left side straight and refinish the slide.

that wouldnt make it just as crooked milling it flat?
and if it was heated and straightened, would that work?
i guess a new slide would fix it, thats if i got a straight one.

Was it like this when you bought it? If so, you should contact Beretta USA to see what t hey say about it.

if it's bent, as in someone bent it by banging the front sight on something, and it were mine, I'd probably play Bubba-gunsmith and bang it back with a hammer, vice, and some metal blocks.  That's a whole lot cheaper then mailing it to Beretta and waiting to get it back

...just sayin

yeah, it was crooked when i bought it.
i just may bubba it, thats if beretta wont make it right

well, i called and even though it came from them messed up,
i have to pay the shipping both ways, and they will determine
if they are going to charge me for gunsmithing and/or fixing the
sights, it sure feels like beretta told me to pound sand.

To be honest you could most likely get a new slide for the same price it would cost to mail the slide to beretta.  I would just look into that.  I smack it like a pimp, until it gets aligned.

[#10]
yeah, i think i'll follow your advice on the new slide.
im pissed at beretta, this is bullshit. it should have been right
from the factory, and then if it isnt it should be fixed at their
cost to make it like it should have been to begin with.

sykostanger, you might consider posting this at www.berettaforum.net since there are some Beretta employees who frequent that sight and may be able to offer some assistance. It's at least worth a shot and I agree, you should not have to pay to send your pistol back if it was defective from the factory.

Yeah, Beretta needs to fix this for free - shipping included. You just need to raise the right stink with the right guy.

thanks for the beretta forum idea, and Paul, i think your right
i cant believe that a company this old would just blow someone off like that.

Actually, it only costs $5 to ship them the slide. If it is their fault, and it is, they will pay to ship it back.

The only thing I want to say in their defense is the fact that someone at the gun shop could have miss handled your handgun before you got your hands on it.  I have seen slides and guns dropped before right behind the counter.  I actually always request that the the seals be broken infront of me after watching a guy drop a 1911 barrel down onto the concrete/carpet floor.  Picks it kinda dusts it off and puts it back in the case ( I don't want to pay $900+ for that dropped gun ).

Also they told Sykostanger that if "they" determine that it came from this like that they would pay for it, other than that he is responsible for it.

Heck look for a used slide assembly with night sights.
