I just got my Beretta back from my gunsmith.  I had him add a KKM NM barrel, adj. sights, and do a trigger job.

I love it.

First, I sighted in at 25 yards.  It was tough because the wind felt like a Hurricane was in the area.  After getting settled, I shot this target.  It's a 98-4x.

Next, it was time to move to 50 yards.  This was my first target.

I eventually got a 90, but with the wind, it was tougher than normal.

Here is a view of the gun.  I like it a lot.

AR-180 . . . you have my full and undivided attention!!

Who did the work on your Beretta and how much did it cost?  I have been thinking about going the same route, since I think that the M9/92FS has enough intrinsic accuracy to do the job (shoot into the 10-ring) without going full-bore on putting steel inserts into the frame, installing set-screws, etc, etc.

Does your trigger meet the 4# limit?

ETA:  what's the story on the trigger shoe?

+1

I can't imagine my 92's getting too much more accurate. I've replaced the barrel in one of my 1911's, but it was the crappy two-piece Springfield one.

AR-180: can you compare the accuracy in before & after the KKM barrel, please?

There are two pricing tiers of Beretta work.  Sams and Dr. Nick do one level.  I got mine done by my bullseye gunsmith.  He doesn't normally do a lot of Beretta work, but he has done several projects for me.  I am testing this one for him before he takes on a bunch of work.  I am supposed to see if I can find areas that he can refine even more.

My trigger meets the limit, but it feels lighter.  The trigger shoe makes it feel like the trigger breaks with even less pressure.  I texturized the grips and added the trigger shoe.  The trigger shoe is available online.  If you google Beretta trigger shoe, you will probably find it.

I did shoot the Beretta before and after.  The work helped a ton.  Before at 50, my Berettas mostly hold the black, but they average two flyers per 10 rounds.  I shot an 87 at Perry this year at 50 with a stock barrel.  The target started strong but had uncalled flyers at the end of the string.

With the KKM barrel at 50, the shots are all on call.

At 25 the stock barrel will do about 2-2.5", but the KKM will do an inch or less.

I have loads that will do much better than 2" at 25 from my stock Beretta 92FS.

How do they do at 50 yards?

Impressive improvement! But, did you have the other additions done before you tried the KKM bbl by itself? IOW, a stock Beretta other than the bbl?

I had all the changes done at once.  Many stock Berettas are accurate enough to win Leg points.  But, to compete with the Marine Pistol team and the Army Marksmanship Unit, every bit helps.  Those teams wouldn't mod stock Berettas if the guns could shoot perfect scores from the box.

Yeah, I may have heard about those Marine Pistol Teams once or twice..............

The reason I asked about the other mods is I have a burning curiosity about the OEM-style trigger with a NM barrel such as Bar-Sto/Kart/whomever compared to the Beretta OEM bbl. Obviously there's gonna be a good bit of advantage with the other mods being thrown into the mix.

Can you reverse everything except for the bbl, try it & get back to us?????

I had a good experience at the range tonight.  Someone
saw me setting up the Beretta at 50.  He asked how
well it could do at that distance.  For his answer, I
shot a target at 50 with 7 10s.  That matches the best
I have ever done.  It was a 93-1 which is my best
service pistol slow. He was impressed.

So, parts & labor & gun, how much do you have invested in the gun now?????

I think it is about $950.  Compared to the two main builders of CMP Berettas, that is a screaming good deal.  It is probably my favorite firearm.

From what you describe, you do indeed seem to have a helluva deal.

I'm still intensely wondering about a change of the bbl (only) though...........

There are a few shooters I know of that have gone with the drop in kkm barrel.  They are pleased with the results.

I think you should go for it and let us know what you find.
