Hey All, I have the greatest wife in the world. I thought most to all 92FS were made in America. I have several Colt and Sig pistols and don't know much about Beretta. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to an Italian Beretta? ![]() Give me the scoop....................if any!! Thanks, Dave |

Some people think that the Italians are a little nicer in fit/finish, some don't. The Italian may be a bit more "collectible" if you don't fire it. I had an Italian & loved it...had to sell when I got divorsed. Since I have never had an American one, I can't compare...but I will say that I could it an 18"x18" iron plate consistently (freehand) open sights at 100 yrds...and I'm not a super-duper shot. It had fixed sights, so much "Kentucky windage" was involved...but once I figured out where to put the sights it was very consistent. I know I'll get "BS" flags for this, but it's true! |
| Quality wise there is not a nickle's difference in where the pistol was made, but finish-wise, the Italian guns were / are typically nicer. Over there they still tend to do more hand work that we do here. Some improvements were introduced on the US guns first, such as solid rather than 'roll' pins. All non-SS 92F and FS pistols also have chrome lined barrels but while the muzzle is polished on the Italian guns and you can see the chrome, it is not done on the US guns. The older Italian guns often also had little 'extra' touches, such as grip screw slots that lined up vertically, etc. Nothing to matter with function but a nicer all around commercial package IMO. |
