I have my 92FS "Y1" pistol for just over a year, it has roughly 700 rounds through it.

I know the "what, where, when" to change out parts on my ARs, but pistols are new to me.

I have been looking in various forums and I can't find anything that recommends a spring change out time line.

I don't plan on changing them out right now, but I would like to start working on a "spare parts box" for the future. When is a good time to start thinking about changing out the springs?

Also, what about other various parts wearing out?

Thanks!

Here's the schedule I follow - given to me by someone very knowledgable whom I trust:

Recoil and Main spring are changed out every 5,000 rounds.  Trigger return and sear spring are changed out every 10,000 rounds. (I use a wolff trigger so I only change out the sear).  All internal slide (firing pin spring, etc.) and frame springs (trigger bar spring, etc.) every 15,000 rounds.

I have magazines  that I haven't changed out in 30 years - some belonged to my father. Never had a problem yet. They were full loaded and just work .

I suggest going ahead & buying a recoil spring from Wolff. They're only $10-12 each, pretty cheap.

Every time you clean the gun, check the length of the old spring against the length of the new, unused spring. Once the old one is 1/2-1" shorter than the new one, trash it & install the new one.

Repeat as necessary.
