Does anyone know if the slide and barrel from a 92 will interchange with the 96. So I could have a 9mm gun then convert it back to 40?

The slides and barrels, yes, they would fit.

HOWEVER, your ejector on the frame is sized differently between the 92 and 96, so you would run into ejection problems.
