Where are you hearing "good things" about Checkmate's M9 mags?

Their M9 mags are notorious crap.

Their M14 mags, on the other hand, are excellent by all reports.

The M9 mags are fine.

Early runs had phosphate on the inside of the mag -PER GOV SPEC - that dust and sand would get caught in.

Current runs no longer have the phosphate on the inside. As for old mags, take a steel wool pad and run it up and down the mag tube. That should smooth everything out.

We have the Checkmate M9 mags at work and they are most assuredly crap.

He's probably hearing it from Checkmate users such as myself, who has shot thousands of rds thru them in competition & NEVER had a SINGLE problem with, not one.

What problems are you having?

Current issue mags are working fine in Iraq and Afganistan (per USMC and Army guys I know that are deployed right now).

I am not deployed myself, but I run Checkmate mags in my IDPA and carry gun.

Ok, thanks for your opinions. Now where can I purchase them?

Gunshows are where I buy mine. Also, CDNN Investments is another good source. Check Cheaper Than Dirt, Dillons, Midway, etc. etc.

Everyone of my checkmates has worked just fine, not one failure to feed.

I do recommend getting rid of the phosphate on the inside though.  (Have not done it to mine, but looks like a problem could occur over time.)

go to www.buylci.com/ . Use the preview/shop as a guest entry(on the left hand side of the page). In the search form put in "1005012044376". An M9 15 round NSN contract magazine will come up for $10.40 which includes the shipping. This will either be the Checkmate or the latest Airtronics contract magazine.

All I can tell you is the Checkmate mags we were issued sucked.  My whole squad all used our personal factory Beretta mags.

Much like guns, there's a variety of factors that play into the situation: cleaning, ammo, etc.

The old parked ones did suck...

Another problem with M9 mags is that many units throw them in a box to rust between ranges...
