so, out of sheer boredom, i decided that i might as well start replacing the plastic parts on my 92FS with the metal parts from the CDNN parts kit i ordered.

i started with the most simple thing - the lanyard loop/mainspring cap.  i put in the metal cap and tried pushing the roll pin into it.  it didn't go.  i took it out and tried sliding the roll pin into it.  it would seem that the roll pin in the gun is the wrong size.

no problem!  i've got a numrich roll pin kit here.  oops, none of those work either

what's the deal?  do i need to go buy a separate roll pin or drill out my cap?

i'm almost afraid to try and replace anything else, but i'm probably going to give the trigger a try next.  i'll report back.

ok, the trigger went in just fine.  but i still don't get why the older cap takes a different size pin.

can someone explain to me what is supposed to be plastic on the "plastic triggers"  it's supposed to have a steel skeleton supporting plastic on the outside, right?  my trigger felt to me like it was solid steel.  comparing it to the replacement trigger, i really couldn't see a difference.  this is a newer gun, so i'm assuming it's supposed to have a plastic trigger on it from the factory?

What was wrong with the plastic parts?  If for some reason you want to offload the plastic parts, lemme know, I'll take them...

Use the hammer spring cap pin that came with the CDNN parts kit.  It's not a roll pin, but a solid pin that's a little thicker at the ends.  It hold under the tension that the hammer spring provides pushing down on the cap.  You don't need a punch to install/remove, just pressure on the cap to release.  Much easier!

i didn't even think to look in the bag for a pin...  i feel smart now

Chris, i bought the parts kit so i would have spares on hand.  initially, i had no plans of switching out any parts as i thought the plastic parts worked just fine.  changing out a few parts just seemed like it would be a fun project.  i'll be saving all the parts in case i ever have something fail.

My 92F (while it had the metal parts) had a roll pin installed as well...

I too replaced the roll pin with the solid pin from the CDNN parts kit.

allright, i used the pin that came with my parts kit and i definitely prefer that to the roll pin.

thanks for the tip!

Odd.  I'm a Beretta armorer and I've never, ever seen a roll pin used there.  Did you purchase new?

Since I purchased mine used, and it is a 1989 vintage, I assumed that the roll-pin was used post-factory, by the previous owner(s)...

I recently purchased an M9 and it had the solid pin.  Go figure...
