A 92FS Vertec is my first and only handgun, I absolutely love it! I recommend Mec-Gar mags, i got a 17rd and a +2 adapter and it fits and functions perfectly. I ordered it from here: Top Gun Supply |

I took my Vertec out on the town yesterday and put about 350 rounds through it, being the second time ive been able to shoot it since i picked it up in January. I think its break in period is officially over, after I picked it up new out of the box its had about 500 rounds shot through it without a single malfunction of any kind no matter what i do to it. Out of the 5 guns i own its hands down the most reliable and i can safely say the only one i wouldent think twice about trusting my life with if it came down to it. |
| Bought my 92FS in 1991 and never shot it until last year! It still looks as good as the day I bought it. The only thing different now is the Crimson Trace laser grips.hy.gif |
I can punch holes side by side with my 92FS if I take careful aim & fire, while a less experienced friend will shoot the same pistol and place shots all over the paper. So I would say it probably isn't your pistol, just a matter of proper practice.

Are you a new pistol shooter? If you are, you just need more practice. Shooting pistols from 25 yards is challenging and a good skill to have, but I shoot most of my pistols at 7 yards. It's more realistic and it helps my self esteem to be able to put all my shots in such a small group. I'm no expert shot so I would be hardpressed to maintain anything smaller than 8 inch groups at 25 yards. (Please note that this is from my experience with my XD-9. I am getting a 92FS next week. Maybe I'll shoot better with that.) |

I've shot alot of pistols. But I'm not trained and I'm not all that good. But shooting tiny little off hand groups at 25 yards is definitely an expertise that I don't believe alot of people have. And moreso than not, people generalize and don't really scrutinize how good of a group they can really do off hand. I think the best I ever did at 25 yards was keeping all my shots within the black of a 100 yard small bore rifle target. Which I believe is a 12" black bull. And that was with my beretta. That being said, I've gotten some pretty small benched groups with pistols over the years at 25 yards. But offhand. Forget it. I need alot more practice and some coaching. I'll see if I can find a pic of that target I was referring to. |
No I am not a new pistol shooter. I started when I was 13 (24 now) with a HK USP .40. I shoot a softball sized group with my 45s, but I think this trigger on the beretta is what is hanging me up. It has a lot of take up in it. I am used to a 1911 trigger. |

I can get 50 rounds to all touch at 25 yards with my Beretta. Now it ends up being one big hole (about the size of a grapefruit), but I think that's pretty damn good. That's off-hand. The Beretta is a REAL accurate pistol. I can do even better with my Wilson, but other than the Wilson and the Beretta, I can't do that with any other pistol. They just "work" for me. |
No! Leave the bbl ALONE! IMO, you need two things: a bit better trigger & some dryfiring time. Replacing the mainspring will improve your trigger by lightening up the trigger pull by a few pounds. Dryfiring will allow you to watch the front sight as you pull the trigger & you can see where you're pulling it. Hard to do this when one is dealing with recoil. My .o2

+1 A new barrel is probably the last thing you need. ![]() Dry fire, Dry fire, Dry fire and then go to the range and practice what you have learned by dry firing. It helped me. |
You suck |
All it takes is time and practice. It's not magic, just effort. You'll get there And did someone say "beater" |
