All you need is a slide from a 96 and a barrel, If you have a 96 slide you could get ridof your 92 slide as both barrels will work with it.

I read on a dedicated beretta forum that the higher grain .40 is recommended due to slightly longer bullet length which feeds better on the 92 feed ramp
I've shot a few magfulls from my 92 vertec with a 96 slide
