I bought a 92FS Vertec about 2 years ago, can't shoot worth a darn and it jams on 2 out of 3 ammo, but as much as I dislike the functionality, it is slowing breaking in and moving up from "to get rid of " list to the "humm, its nice and I don't mind keeping it" list. Long story short, can anyone shed some light on why this gun sometimes won't lock slide on the last round. There is no definate factor that I can identify, other than it does that once in aobut 100 rounds (8-10 mag change). I have 2 mags and I have not counted which one does it more... It didn't do that when I first got the gun, then it did that like every-other mag change, to how it is now. I can live with it, but rather solve the mystery ![]() bonus question.. D spring only changes the DA pull , correct? so if you want to get rid of that SA pre-travel.. is there a easy why to do that? thanks |

No, you cannot get rid of the take-up of a SA trigger feel on a TDA gun. This is why 1911s were invented............... As for your problem, try both different mags & different ammo. Also, make sure you have plenty of oil on the rails of the frame & slide. My .o2 |

That shouldn't happen with factory mags. Sounds like a mag problem, if not write Beretta. My 92 is the least ammo sensitive pistol I ever fired or even heard of. I used to pick ammo dropped in the ground at the range and corroded and it still worked fine. Reloads that didn't cycle my Glock and H&K still worked in the 92. I did find slide locking problems with cheap after market mags but only some very badly made ones I had bought to practice dropping on the ground while reloading. Probably unrelated, but does it have the cheapo plastic spring guide I saw on some of the newer 92's ? I do not like that and would use the metal one (nice and smooth) instead... |

thanks for the inputs, I've got the problem solved from the Beretta forum. comes down to be problem with the operator.. me . I was riding my right thumb on the slide stop lever.I'm also going to change out the mag springs to +10% wolff. then I'll probably get a steel guide rod and switch out that plastic toy rod. Everything is good again |
I had that problem too. And still do once in a while if I don't remember to keep my thumb up. Especially in rapid strings. |
That's a waste of money. You will see NO difference in the operation of your pistol by changing the guide rod. But suit yourself. Some folks just think metal is sexy and don't mind paying extraneous dollars for it. |
Mine was made with the metal rod, so I have no worries. But, wouldn't the plastic have a tendency to bend under duress/heat/pressure, allowing the barrel to not lock up as tightly as the metal rod would???????????? |
