I am going to be acquiring a (civilian) Beretta M9 soon.  I have heard that swapping out the hammer spring with a 16# (as opposed to 20#) will greatly improve the trigger pull.

I happen to like to shoot CCI Blazer ammo, which I believe have hard primers.

Does anyone have experience with the 16# spring and various types of ammo?  Is it reliable?

Also, where can I get a $3 spring without spending $5 on shipping?  Do any of you guys have one that you would sell me?

Get the hammer spring made for the DAO version (which may be the #16 I have no idea). They are available from several places and use will not void your warranty as an aftermarket one might, They definitely do help. Can't help ya on finding one without paying thru the nose for shipping, however.

I found a source for the D spring which is fairly reasonable ($6.50 shipped):

I bought my "D" springs from Dave.  He's highly recommended by many for good reasons.  Have no fear dealing with him.

The "D" will maintain your Beretta's reliability while improving your DA trigger.

I just switched mine with a 17# Wolff spring.  I fired 100 rounds of WWB with no trouble.  Definitely helped out with the pull... a lot.  The D spring is 18# I think....

I have the "D" in my 96G Elite.  Never any problems.

so the lighter D spring will also work in the 96 Brig????  Is it the same lb.-age as the 92???  I guess Im needing one.  I have already had the trigger smoothed out to 5lbs, but if this will lighten it more, then Im game.

I heard it was no longer recommended for the new plastic triggers.
