Ordered one yesterday from PSA as well.. I'll post pictures after I pick it up from my FFL. Looked at an 84BB at my last "fun show" in Harrisburg.. the only one there and the guy wanted $700 for it. Pretty much laughed in his face when he told me the price. |

Got my 84BB today from my FFL... finish is a little rough, there's some rust on the slide, and it hasn't been cleaned from when it was last fired. Still, for $300 it's not a bad looking piece. Now to clean it up and find a left handed holster. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. |

| Took mine to the range with several other guns yesterday. Yikes, might be hands, but that beavertail beat the shit outta me. Brought 50rds of .380 Federal and only shot less than 30rds. Maybe I need a new recoil spring. It is very accurate though, just very uncomfortable to shoot. I wear an XL glove for reference but my hands are slimmer, not meaty. |

It's from that fixed barrel design sending all that hate directly into the web of your hand, instead of expending some of it doing the tilt-barrel action like a 9mm or greater. I really wanted to like my 84 and 85, but- they just hurt. It becomes tolerable when you buy an Allegheny barrel and turn that 84 into a 32 ACP 81. |
It takes away some of the visual impact when you can't see it.

I wear an XL glove for reference but my hands are slimmer, not meaty. @EncoreGolf So I already had a new Allegheny recoil spring in my parts box ( I collect parts- it's the logistics OCD in me), and I decided I'd put it in and give it one last test, before putting the 84/380 into safe queen status... Well, that was night and day. It's still a blowback, but it was definitely more pleasant than before. My previous recoil spring was about 3/16" shorter than the known-new one, which I didn't think was that worn out...  but apparently it is. So try a new spring. I just bought another  ETA: spring image |

My buddy Timmy called me today and said he got one on route. He didn't want me to miss out on them. I didn't need one but also ordered one anyway and went over to AIM and ordered magazines. A few dings on the edge of the trigger guard with no wear or rust on the slide. Used some Birchwood Casey aluminum black and smoothed out the dings with a scotch Brite pad. Touched up the sites with some white Testors model paint, they look much better now. I did get a new recoil spring from Wolff and it was noticeably longer than the one in it. Will try to shoot it soon when it warms up a bit. |
| One of mine looked like a beaver had been chewing on the trigger guard, and it had several rust spots. Previous owner must have had acid skin or maybe worked near the ocean. Any amateur gunsmiths want to give me an idea on how best to smooth up the trigger guard and paint or refinish. |
