I have a 92FS that I purchased about 1993 and looking down the barrel it doesn't look chromed.Evry barrel I have seen has a small ring at the crown of the barrel where you can see the chrome. This barrel doesn't look chromed at all. Did Beretta sell some 92FS w/o chromimg the barrel? I called Baretta and the rep said all 92f&FS have chroned barrels.

The chrome ring at the muzzle is usually an indication of an Italian made barrel. The US barrels are chromed as well, but do not usually have the ring visible at the muzzle.

To check the barrel, use a drop of liquid bluing solution, 44-40 from Brownells, on the area to check. It will not blue the metal if it is indeed chromed.

The only non chromed barrels I have seen from the 92 series are those found on the stainless version.

All Bruton barrels should be chrome-lined. The Inox ones are not.

The US and Italian ones have visible chroming at the chamber/breach flat.
