Wow what a difference that makes. Double action is smooth and way lighter. Only question is are there any reliability concerns with this spring installed? I used a beretta factory part ordered from brownells. I conducted function and safety checks with snap caps and everything looks good, but have not had any live fire yet. This weapon will return to Leo duty in 24 hours. Suggestions?

Yes I will, just don't know how much I will get to fire, maybe 50 rds. Wondering if you guys have heard anything bad as a result of d spring installation.

Never heard of any problems.  The same spring is of course in the DAO 92D and 96D which are fairly common LE gun.  But, like DR wrote above though, you should test fire to make sure.

I've never had a single problem with the D spring, even with military 9mm.

Test fire done. 100 rds no problems at all. Shoots like a dream. Thanks for the replies.

I have five 92s now. Was up to 9 earlier this year. Probably owned another 5 -7 over the years. ALL have had D springs. NEVER a problem with the spring. Never a light strike. I have 4.4k thru one of my 92s right now - the one I carry.

You will be fine

I keep staying with the stock spring because I'm worried about light primer strikes.  But dang...  I keep hearing that it's good to go though.  Thanks for testing it out.  Let us know if you ever DO have problems.  Shipwreck knows his beretta's though.

Swap out the stock hammer to the elite hammer, it runs even smoother.

No problems at all with 9mm and the D spring.
Only an issue if you plan on using a .22 conversion kit.
I had frequent light strikes with the D spring and Beretta factory .22 conversion kit.
CCI MiniMags were the most reliable, but I'd still get a FTF about every other mag even with the premium ammo.
Double-action re-strike would usually cure the problem, but switching back and forth DA-SA-SA-SA-DA-SA sucks.
Now I keep one 92 set up with the factory spring for .22 kit use.

I am not sure why Beretta does not put them on all of their 92's. The Elite has the D spring and is da/sa from the factory.

Where are you guys getting the D spring at?

I can't seem to find it on brownells or MGW.  What's the part #?

I replaced the spring and it was so much nicer to shoot. Go ahead and do it.

I just performed the 92D spring swap in my M9 - easy to do and worth every penny.

Realize if you have an Italian model, you must use a punch to knock a roll pin out. If you have a USA made one - it's simple. Just manually push a pin out. On Italian made ones, I usually get the USA style lanyard loop pin, and use that when I install the D spring. No need to mess with a hammer and punch after that. The lanyard loop pin is like less than $2 if I remember right... Also from Brownells.

Just installed a "D" spring in my 92 and honestly, don't feel much of a difference.  I mean, it's a little but lighter but not much. Like the DA weight went from 11 lbs to 9 lbs. (don't have a push-pull gauge, just estimating) Was hoping for more.

Maybe it's because my gun already has 15,500 rounds through it the stock spring was well worn in... I don't know. Kind of disappointed. It was only $5 but still.

I installed the Wolff 16lb hammer spring on my M9. Noticeably lightened double action and seemed to drop single action by maybe half a pound. I've only ran 100rds of WWB and 15rds of Underwood after installing the spring but no failures of any kind.

I have measured a few 92s with a trigger gauge a few years back. Stock pull in DA is about 11.5lbs. With the D spring it is about 8.5pounds. With 300-3000 rounds thru it afterwards, it is about 8.3pounds on my main 92FS

Keep in mind that the D spring was designed for the D model which is a DAO police production unit widely in circulation.  My Dept used them for years and I never saw or heard of a light strike on anyone's pistol.

+1000

And its semgin for the win!

If your going to do the D-spring, your already half way there... just swap the hammer and be done.

fine with CCI, Win, Fed, Rem, Magtech, and Wolf primers. both factory and on reloads.

Where reloads have had issues is with bad primer pockets and primers not seated fully.
