I have Mec Gar sights on my 92 and they do not have enough adjustment. Anyone have adjustable sights? Any recommendations?

I have found sights by Beretta and Precision Sights International (PSI).

I have the same problem with mine. Got the Mec-Gar sights and not enough travel. I do not know of any other sources.

I can't answer your questions because I never install adjutables on auto pistols, but welcome to the boards.

Thanks for the welcome.

Here are the Beretta adjustable sights

Here are the PSI sights

I read on another forum that they are the same. I don't know if that is a fact or not. They both look just like the Mec Gar. The Mec Gar would work fine if there was more travel. I probably will get one of these. Hope someone chimes in with personal experience.

What kind of problem do you have that you don't have enough travel?

They might be the same, Beretta often does this such as using Hogue grips.

Like TxLewis said, what are you trying to overcome with the adjustable sights?  Do you need more windage or more elevation?  And is the slide Vertec, Brigadier or regular?  If it is a Vertec or Brigadier slide with the dovetailed front sight and you need more elevation then you may be better served with a different front post that is taller or shorter.

Also, if it has the dovetail front sight and you need windage then you could try drifting the sight as needed.

The main thing though is that before you do any of the above, are you sure it's the sights?  Changing the sights is the wrong solution for a grip problem.

Sights do not have enough vertical travel. It is close to hammer but there is enough room for the travel I need. Have a regular 92F, no dovetailed front.

I don't see how grips get into this. I was shooting from a rest.

I will probably try the PSI or Beretta sights. If I do I will report what I find. Seems Flamethrower is having the same problem I have.

Grip has a huge impact if your trigger finger isn't pulling straight back or is dragging on the frame, either of which can push the pistol to the side as you fire.

I'm not familiar with the sight you're using, but could it be mounted out of center?  Is it in a dovetail mount so you could drift it to one side to give you the adjustment you need?

People learning to shoot Beretta 92 series handguns often fire 4-6 inches low due tio the grip they use being accepted by the pistol differently from other handguns.

SIG,Glock, and 1911 shooters who are experienced shots will sometimes experience this.

It is not the gun or sights.  It isn't even flinching.

You literally need to shoot the gun a lot more.  Your group location will improve with regular (weekly) pracrice.

I know because I have been through/going through this.

Leave the sights alone, slow down and squeeze the trigger.

SHoot more ammo more frequenly

Bullet weight will also have an effect on elevation impact. Maybe switch to 124gr instead of 115gr????

A time ago I upgrade my Beretta 92FS toa package called Beretta 92FSPLUS, a photo of the pistol is in the Beretta website, the main changes are: extended magazine release with a checkered surface, skeleton hammer with a softer mainspring (I dont perceive malfunctions with "hard primers",  but an improvement in my double action shooting skills), laser checkered wood grip with an elegant pattern and adjustable sights in the same profile of the fixed sights, so the only difference are the adjusting screws at their sides.
I dont install hte sights yet, I´m waiting that a friend bring me from Italy the sight instalation rig, I dont want to marr the surface.
If those sights are better than the LPI/Beretta target, I dont know, my preference is a matter of cosmetics, if they work the same way than the fixed ones, it´s O.K. for me.
This 92 was my first 9mm.,  now I have a Glock 34 and a couple of Brownings Hi Powers, and it gives me a lot of satifaction.
Have fun !!!
