I own and shoot Sigs, Glocks, 1911's,Colt, S&W, etc but no Beretta .Time to fix that .
Whats the difference between the 92A1 and the M9A1 ? Same finish ? I see that the 92A1 has a replaceable front sight .Same with the M9A1 ? Which is best ? I do like military pistols and this gun will be a range gun being shot every month . Thanks, Nick |

The trigger guard is rounded on the 92A1, and square on the M9A1.
This is where you get screwed in the 92A1. This makes finding a holster very difficult. I have the 92A1. If you plan to put it into anything other than a fabric type holster, your choices are limited. Many companies make them for the M9A1. |

The 92A1 also has a dovetailed front sight which makes replacing it easier. Then the aforementioned holster issue. I'm almost seriously considering trading my 92A1 for a M9A1 because of the aftermarket issues. Which is a shame, because it look like the 92A1 is a much more solidly designed pistol. Compare the around the rail areas and around the trigger bar on the right side of the 92A1 and M9A1. The 92A1 has a lot more metal for strength. According to Beretta's website the 92A1 s 0.5oz heavier. One more difference that many may overlook is that the slide dimensions are slightly different. The 92A1 has a slightly heavier slide: compare the height of the slide where the engravings and serrations are; the 92A1 is slightly taller than on the M9/A1/92FS. |

Doesn't the 92a1 and the M9a1 have a rail ? |

I have the 92A1 and it's a great gun but the holster issue is a pain, however, there are holster manufacturers out there if you look hard enough and I imagine there will be more as time goes on. My main problem was that my 92A1 is my dedicated HD gun so I added a sure fire X400 light/laser and finding a belt ride holster to fit the gun and X400 has been frustrating as hell but...I just heard back from Safariland and they have some, they just weren't listed online. So, Safariland, has the holsters which removes that problem. I've had no other problems with mine, in fact I love it and I like that I can swap the sights because someday soon it's getting some tritium I think any of the 92 series are a great choice but I'm glad I chose the 92A1. |
