Anyone get a chance to shoot the new P226 E2 in 9mm?   Any range reports?

Bump.  I'd like to know this as well.

I didn't get the 226 E2, but i did get the 229 E2, and it is awesome!  I love the new smaller grips. It comes with night sights, short trigger, SRT action and 3 mags. It was totally reliable for 300 rds fired and the most accurate 229 ive ever had. It has replaced my HK P30 as my carry pistol. Im infatuated with this pistol.

Stupid question, but what's different about the E2 designation?

Enhanced Ergonomics.

Does it primarily consist of the thin grip panels I've heard about?  Or actual changes to the frame and other design characteristics?

actual change to the grip angle.

Yeah, the frame is different but it still uses the same mags.

The frame for the 226 is exactly the same...The only difference is in the mainspring area (i believe only the mainspring seat and mainspring strut).  The frame is exactly the same it even has the holes for the old grips.

The 229 has some differences in the frame.

Can you install the E2 grips and/or the new (if it is different) decocker on a standard P226?  I read where the new design is supposed to minimize interference with a thumbs forward grip––something I have issues with.

You cannot without replacing the two parts I listed.  As of this moment Sig is not selling the parts kit needed so you can convert to the new grips (IN the US).  They are selling them in Germany at the time.  Here is the link

Well, that is encouraging––hopefully they will start selling the conversion parts over here before long.  Although I like my P226, it sounds like it would cure the small gripes I have about it, and I sure don't want to swap it for a newer one.  I guess I'll have to watch for it!  Maybe if I call Sig and beg...

No it does not use the same mags. The mags for the 229 E2 have been redesigned and now have a 15 rd capacity. 226 mags also work in the 229 E2. Im not sure if the old 229 mags work in the E2, but i dont think so.

So I am still confused.

will the newer E2 grips work with a Sig P226 made in the 90s? I would just have to purchase the parts linked above to make it work?

I just bought the 226 E2 and it is a really nice gun. Awesome, awesome, awesome, trigger. Feels solid in my hand like any other sig. Any questions just IM me

I sure would like to mount those E2 grips to my P228.

I sure wish I could find out if they fit.

They do, you just need a crapload of other parts

I have a Sig 226 9mm E2 that I ordered from Top Gun. I have fired 500 rounds with no problems. Like most other Sigs, accuracy is excellent. I really like the new grip and short
reset trigger. My daughter has small hands, and the smaller grip makes shooting so much easier for her. It is parked in a fantastic # 1 vertical holster made by Erik Little at Rafter-L Gun Leather.
I like 1911's, but I really like this Sig 226 E2 and holster combination.

I was able to get one of the E2 grip conversion kits for one of my old P226s and it feels great.  The P226 that I put them on is an older non-railed model and they work great.  I have decent-sized hands in that I can palm a basketball but the ergonomics of the grips don't feel too small in my hands.  Some of my friends with smaller hands LOVE them.  Hopefully, they will make the grip conversion more accessible soon.
