I was looking at a 220 today in .45 acp, and they are a bit pricey... worth every penny im sure, but what other models should I be considering?  Looking to go either .40 or .45.

If you are looking for a less expensive Sig here are some options....
1) look at used sigs, often can be found for $500 or less if you just look for them.  Check out sigforum.com
2) if you want a new sig consider the P239 in .40.  Have one and love it

Yeah.... he had a used P220 for 499, and a NEW 239 for the same price.  Why are the new 239s so much cheaper than the 220s?

There is only one .45 - the P220 unless you want a slightly cut down version of it (P245).  In 40 go for the P229 in general or P226 if you want full size.  For compact - the P239 in 40.  Some like the P2340 but it's a slightly different animal.

However, if you are concerned about price and like .45 - get a use LE trade in!  I bought 2 LE trade in P226's and 2 P220's.  All were fantastic - only finish wear, and I replaced the springs just to be sure.  The used P220's are a GREAT deal, and you can always get it refinished.  If I had the extra money, I'd buy more of them.

My latest CDNN catalog lists the following prices for used Sigs:

P220 .45 $399.99
P226 9mm $389.99
P226 .40 $399.99
P229 .40 $429.99

ETA:  at these prices, if I had the extra scratch I would buy one of each!

I stumble on like-new/used P220s all the time in the $499-$525 range.

The last P220 I bought (about 6-months ago) was a factory demo gun made in '93 that appeared to be NIB with an absolute minimal of wear, had factory night sights, and was stamped "W. Germany." All for $500 plus tax...needless to say, I snatched it up. Good deals are out there.
