I recently picked up a Zurich Police P228 trade-in. It's my first Sig and I'm extremely happy with it. A couple little dings, virtually no holster wear, night sites a little dim, doesn't look like its been shot a whole lot, and DIRTY as hell.

Anyway, on to my question. It came with 2 13 rnd Sig factory mags and I purchased 2 15 rnd Mec-Gar mags.
The mags are identical in every way except for the followers. The followers in the Sig mags are longer, thus allowing only 13 rnds. Just wondering if anyone modified their Sig followers with a dremel shortening them a little to accept a couple more rounds. I know I can buy the shorter followers on-line, but they're like 8 bucks apiece. When you're used to getting 3 Magpul AR followers for less than that, it seems kind of expensive.

Just my opinion.

I would not hack on factory mags to make them hold two more rounds.

Actually I don't keep my 15 round Mecgar in my 228 full. I load it with 15 rounds. Insert into gun. Chamber a round, leaving 14 in the magazine. It takes alot of pressure off the spring. I keep my two backup mags full. When they are inserted it will be on an open chamber so they will be easier to insert.

Is this going to be a carry gun for you? If so, stick with the 2 MecGar 15 rounders, the extra capacity is great, but more importantly, the springs are new. Use the 13 round factory mags that came with it as range mags; if/when they show feeding issues, get some replacement srings from Wolff. I like to tinker with things myself, but I'd skip alteration of the followers if it were my gun/mags.

Could possibly be a carry piece, not sure yet. Just got it and need to spend more time with it.
I did take the factory mags apart and cleaned them, so far they seem to function 100%.

I agree that it is probably not a good idea to try hacking on them. I just thought that maybe there was a very common and easy mod that everyone did. There's got to be tons and tons of these mags out there. Again, just thought it was a common mod everyone did.

Thanks for the replies.
