I have several Sigs, all DA/SA. The other day at the range I was practicing double taps instead of just emptying the magazine. (getting to expensive)
Anyway, I would draw from cover, fire two rounds center mass as quick as I could and still maintain accuracy, de-cock, and holster. What was really throwing me off was that the first shot was double action and the second single action. As far as a magazine dump, which is probably not real practical in a real life shooting situation although alot of fun any other time, I love the DA/SA. I have never pulled the trigger on a DAK. My questions are: 1. Is the trigger pull lighter on a DAK than pulling double action on a SA/DA? 2. Is the trigger stroke shorter on a DAK than DA on a SA/DA? 3. Can a SA/DA be changed to a DAK? Thanks for any help. Terry |

DA/SA has always been an issue that needs training and repetition to insure good trigger pull on the first shot.
1. Trigger pull on the DAK is 6lbs with each shot, and is less weightr than standard first DA pull, but much longer and heavier than SA pull. Think of the DAK as a double action revolver trigger. 2. Trigger stroke is eminently longer on the DAK when compared to SA 3. Can DA/SA be converted to DAK? Yes..depending on models etc Most SIG people either love or hate the DAK. Not much middle ground. You would probably be better off spending the money you'd put into a new DAK pistol or conversion in ammunition and practice shooting your DA/SA. It is a great trigger system and much much faster and easier to reset and shoot rapidly. The DAK weirdness sets in when trying to reset the DAK trigger to make a rapid second shot. If you don't let the trigger all the way out (long pull) and move to reset it only part way out, it goes from being 6 lb trigger to 8 lb trigger! Very odd. |
