I have my first Sig on the way to me, a P220 Elite Stainless.

Are the decockers on these guns 100% reliable?  In other words, there's no chance of an AD when using it?

I'm assuming that they are, and there's no benefit to riding the hammer down with my thumb while using the decocker . . . ?

Sorry, but my only other gun with a decocker is a CZ-52, and all CZ-52 owners have it hammered into their brains to NEVER EVER trust the decocker!   :)

Thanks!

No decocker is 100 % safe. Touching the trigger or hammer could possibly make them less safe. The most important fact is to point in a totally safe direction when de-cocking keeping in mind that most handgun bullets will go through walls and ceilings.

Considering the SIG's have a firing pin safety that's only deactivated by pulling the trigger, I'd say their decocker is safe.

I've been using the decocker on my P220 for 15 years now.  No problems yet, but I still point the barrel away from anything important when doing it.

Thanks for the input, guys.

There is absolutely no chance of an AD while decocking a Sig. The trigger needs to be completely pressed, in order to disengage the firing pin safety and the thing that blocks the hammer to fire a round.

I wouldn't point it at myself or someone else while decocking, but yes it's safe.

LOL . . . that's probably the best summary possible.  Thanks.
