Well i took the plunge and ordered the 22lr conversion kit for my p226, i think i got an amazing deal on it, only payed 264 and that's including shipping. Ill be going to the range next weekend and ill post a detail range report on it, because when i was doing research on it i really couldn't find anything on it. Let me know your experiences with your 22lr conversion, anything i should be concerned with? i know not to dry fire it ever and that the slide doesn't lock back on the last shot but let me know anything u think i should know.

A few things I have found out during breaking in of mine-
1. Make sure the slide is locked back when inserting a mag. 2. The magazine is prone to chipping by the mag release, when inserted into the mag well. To prevent this-Make sure the slide is locked back, press and hold the mag release, insert the mag and seat it fully, then release the mag catch and drop the slide closed. It does not lock back on an empty mag. This guy here-http://www.collectors-society-slabs.com/shoppingcart/ sells followers that lock the slide open on the last round and sells kits that convert the mags from 10 rounds to 15. Very nice parts. Make sure it's well lubricated. It likes oil and lots of it. Slide and frame rails, around where the barrel locks up, the recoil spring and rod and some on the barrel at the end of the slide. Don't get discouraged if you have some FTF and FTE, it will get broke in. Use a wide variety of quality .22lr, to see what you upper likes. Sig recommends CCI Mini-Mags for break in, but my P220 kit liked the Remington Golden Bullet and did not like the CCI's. After about 1000rds, mine now runs with anything. If you are shooting it at a extended time, break it down at about 250-300 rounds, wipe it down, re-oil, reassemble and keep shooting. Hope that helps. |

Because i have no idea how it works, does it do it like it does on a slide lock or does it just block the slide from being able to move forward. Also does it damage the gun at all? |

The follower blocks the slide from moving forward.
I have not yet ordered a new follower, but over on the Sig Forum, everyone there that has used the new followers, love them. No damage has been reported. I would think that it would be ok, due to the low mass of the slide, being the slide is made from aluminum, and lite weight. I have used the kit to increase the rounds from 10 to 15 and I like it alot. |

I like this idea. Where is the best deal on a .22 conversion kit for my non-railed p229? Try here-Top Gun Supply Be forewarned-They are in short supply. The demand for these have been very high and Sig cannot keep up with it. I bought my P220 SAO 22.lr as a whole gun. Then I found a used P220 Carry upper to go on it. |

When I got mine the firing pin would strike the barrel if there was not a round in the chamber. Since the factory mag will not engage the slide catch it is a sure thing you will dry fire. This left enough of a burr that the shells would not seat or eject. I had to file down the burr as well as a couple of thousandths off the firing pin. Since then it has worked flawlessly. I love it and have probably 2000 rounds through it.
Also, The spare mags I bought had to be dremeled down in the area of the slide catch. Apparently there was just enough material left on the mag that the slide catch would keep engaging after each shot. Can someone tell me if the above has been fixed at the factory? |

so i just got my 22lr conversion in the mail today...your not kidding about the magazine chipping after one insert it showed signs of wear on it,is there no way to make this not happen?..i mean it seems like such a small problem but such a big one at that. can any one show me a picture of how bad this can get. Also does your kit seem like it has a really tight fit, it seems mine needs a lot of oil for it to have no friction feeling...
i should be going shooting this weekend so ill be able to get a range report up...should get some pics to, cause seems like there really isnt that many pics of the kit out there. |

Hopefully someone at some point will start making aftermarket mags for these kits. Definitely the weak link in the system and the area most in need of improvement. It would be great if the mags would have a traditional last shot slide catch feature too. Just sayin... |
