Hey guys this is my first post. Just bought a threaded skeeter, and I have these questions....
1) Haven't shot it yet, but it will dry fire when the safety is on. Does it have to have a round in to engage the safety or is this just not normal? FYI...I know better than to dry fire, only did it once, but cannot say what happened before me in the store. Has anyone experienced this? I already dread going to the range to experience the misfires everyone is talking about. |
| I've ran approx 4,000 rounds down range with only the normal 22 dud here and there.Clean it,lube it and try to run CCI Mini Mags for the first 500 rounds. The Skeeter is a sweet 22.All I have run threw it for the last 3,500 rounds is Federal Bulk pack from Wally World. |

I have about 700 rounds through mine. It's run extremely well on Minimags. I had a few cycling issues for the first 20-30 rounds, mostly a round that wouldn't fully chamber. It seemed like it was broken in after about 250 rounds, but the break in wasn't any more painful than any other new .22 I've had.
Last weekend I did try some Aguila Super Extra (high velocity, ~1275 fps), and the Mosquito HATED that stuff. I had all manner of problems with it: cycled slow, failed to chamber fully, a few stovepipes. I then tried some CCI Blazer, and my Mosquito was back to its former sweet-shooting ways. The Blazers were at least as good as the Minimags, maybe even a little better. I'm not sure exactly what's happening when you pull the trigger with the safety engaged. I notice with mine that the hammer makes a slightly different sound when the safety is off than when it is on. The trigger action feels pretty much the same. I know the safety on mine functions properly because I try a trigger pull on a chambered round with the safety engaged once just about every range session. It's never fired with the safety engaged. BTW, mine came with an orange dry-fire plug that fits into the chamber and kind of looks like a chamber flag. I've used that for a lot of dry-fire practice. Note that the Mosquito has a mag disconnect, so you also need to insert an empty mag. I feel like I've really mastered the DA trigger because of my dry-fire practice. I was very pleased with my DA results after my last range session. Good luck with your Mosquito. I've decided mine's a keeper. -TB |
