I went to Gander Mtn yesterday and felt the P229 and the P239.  For me, both of their grips are just a little short - not much, probably 1/4 inch, but enough that it just didn't feel quite right.

I loved the feel of both of them besides that and was thinking that a mag extension would make it just right.  Are these available?  And if so, has anyone been in the same situation and tried them?  Did they work like you expected?

Thanks.

I had a P239, but when compared to the P229, it didn't think it was small enough to justify hold 5 fewer rounds.  I sold it and bought a P229 instead.

Extension?  Never heard of one.

I agree, I have owned both and the size diff. was not worth giving up exrta ammo.

on the 229 mags there is a tiny pinky rest that makes it fit in my hand perfectly

Are you talking about the standard mags?  If so, this still makes it a little short for me.  I guess I'll have to do without a p229 and stick to the P226 and P220 :(

Unless its 9mm, you aren't giving up any capacity staying with a P226, and honestly, there isn't a huge advantage in concealability between the two.
