I've been thinking about getting a Sig for a while now, mainly for a home defense weapon, and I think I've finally decided on a P226 in 9mm.  So now I'm wondering about the Siglite Night Sights.
Are they worth the hundred bucks from Sig ($80 +shipping from ebay)?  How well do they work? Anyone have any experiance with them?

For $80 I'd get Trijicon sights. Sig night sights, from Sig, are about the same price. You'll need a sight pusher or have someone else install them. If they are the sights that Sig puts on their refurbished pistols, don't bother. They've worn out just like hte early Glock night sights did.

The night sights that SIG currently installs on their product line are Meprolight. You can get Meprolights for less if you shop around. You can get them here for $69.95 plus $5.95 flat rate shipping. They are good sights with white outlines for better daytime aquisition.

I had to jump on a deal for trijicon night sites for $65 for my CPO Sig 229 when I bought it!!!!  Plus the dealer installed them for free as they should if you buy from them.  Otherwise, if you don't have the tool and don't want to risk scratching the slide have them installed by someone who does and knows how.

I've used the trijicon and meps and prefer the meps.  Larger white dots for day use quickens sight picture for me.  And there is not vial to pop out.

I just put some Trijicons on my P220 and P225.  I bought the MGW sight pusher from Brownells to install them.  Expensive, but I wouldn't want to trust another install method.  Try to hook up with someone who has a pusher regardless of the brand of night sights you get.

Whatever you decide on, make sure that you get the appropriate height rears to match the ones you have now or, if need be, make adjustments to your POA.

One of my fellow instructors at work has one of the Tru-Glo sights on his Glock. Works really nice and is easy to pickup. The rear sights kind of make you pull your focus away from the front during sight interception, so I would probably just use regular nights on the rear.

Maybe worth looking into, for you.

If I have a P229 with a #8 front and a #7 rear sight, do I have to replace them with the same size?  I noticed the add said check what number your sights have before ordering, but only gave one combination as a choice for purchase? Please help....Thanks

Love my factory Sig night sights. I found a deal on my Sig where the NS were almost free compared to other vendor prices without NS and this vendor didnt have a Sig without em and although I didnt think I would like them compared to aftermarket types I feel no need to replace them.

SIG uses either Trijicon or Meprolight for their "Siglites" and having used both brands either will work well. One thing about getting a SIG with Siglites put on by the factory is that SIG warranties their Siglites for life so that's just something else to consider.
