Here's the deal. To simplify my load out and reduce the manual of arms I have to do, I've reduced the varieties of pistols to either Sigs or XDs. To keep everything simplier, everything is going to be either a 9x19mm or a .45ACP. So far my little parcel of Sigs are the P220, P239, and just got my P228 out of layaway today.![]() Also, paid down on the P226. The P220 is obviously the .45 and the rest are all 9x19mm. The P239 will be the CCW in the fanny pack(yeah, it looks that way with my RN scrubs but goes with the camoflage), the P220 for 3 gun games with the heavier steel knock downs and is the 'nightstand' gun at night, the P228 is my car gun that rides around with me and is either on or attached to me. The P226 was lonely in gun case there at the So, to make sure that I have the bases covered. What do ya'll suggest? There is a decent P245(.45ACP) for $595 and a P229 in .40S&W. Not really too keen on adding the .40S&W back into the load out but was wondering in a SHTF scenario, having a P229 .40S&W with a .357 Sig barrel wouldn't be an advantage. Thanks, wganz ¶ |

If you're really looking to "simplify" to two calibers, then the 229 isn't doable, obviously. However, I think that a 229 with .40 & .357 barrels would really round out your collection rather nicely. I know there are lots of 245 fans out there, but I never really warmed up to that platform, and have heard lots of complaints from dis-satisfied owners in the past. Of course, this is one man's opinion, and worth what you paid for it! Regards, Kevin |

how about another option? you say you've got the 220 for a night stand gun/ 3 gun matchs. you could get the surefire nitrolon light for it. or, put the light on the 226, w/ a 20 rnd. mag. that would be a great night stand gun. if you only have time to grab the gun, you have 21 shots of your favorite 9mm load to use instead of 8 or 9 w/ the 220. and you can keep to 2 calibers. i would like a 245 though as well. |
| The 245 is a very nice little handgun, and is in line with your choices. Nothing worng with the 229 .40/.357 combo either, but for me, the 229 is neither fish nor fowl...while for others it is the perfect compromise. I think you might replace the 239 with the 245 if you had one. JMO |
