this may be a dumb question, but can the 6.5lb trigger pull on the 229R DAK be lightened?

You just use a lighter mainspring. The DAK uses a standard weight spring (21lbs BTW) as a DA/SA SIG but uses a lighter sear spring. So to lighten it you can use a lighter mainspring. I don't recommend anything lighter than a 19lb spring.
