Does anybody know where I can get a set of factory grips for my 229?  Mine has the hogue grip panels, and it sucks when carrying concealed as the rubber hangs onto my shirt.

Any thoughts about other non-rubber grips would be appreciated.

I've sent an e-mail to CDNN and to Uncle Mike's.

I much prefer the OEM grips myself:
www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/Schematics/SchemMFg.aspx?schemid=834

I’d assume you could use the grip screws you’ve already got.  However, just to be safe, when changing grips always check the mag well and make sure the screws aren’t extending into it.

That's exactly what I wanted.  Price looks great too.!

Houge is now selling checkered standard grips for most Sigs. They take a regular stippled plastic set and checker them over the stippling. Looks pretty good and grip is supposed to be better.

Just bought a set from Brownells for my 228.  They updated it and allowed for the newer (coiled) trigger bar spring, and added the lanyard cut in the grips.  The only downside is I now have a gap between the grips along the backstrap, tapering towards the slide.  Nothing huge enough to be unuseable, but doesn't look that great.

If anybody starts whining about my gapped grips I've got other problems though.  Yes, these are SIGArms panels...

That gap bothered me also, to the point of filing away very carefully until it was perfect. (true, you shouldn't have to)
It can be remedied with a magnifier, a file, some studying and a lot of patience.
My 1994 228 came with hogues already on it, the factory grips were still in the hogue blister packaging and had that same gap when installed.
As if that's not enough, I fitted a set of old style factory checkered grips to a newer 220, the left panel required a lot of modification as there must have been a slight frame change near the top.
It was worth it, giving me the "classic" look and better traction.

Yeah, I was a bit afraid to hear that filing on the grips would be needed.  One of these cold summer nights maybe I'll get to that.  Until then it's back to wearing out my skateboard tape and knocking the texture down through plain simple use

I just ordered them directly from Sigarms, both grips + a set of screws for $24.95 shipped.  It was a bit cheaper than Brownells.  Brownells didn't have one of the grips in stock.   I hope I don't have the same fit problems.  That will be annoying.

Got the new factory grips in the mail today.  They fit perfectly.  I'm glad I don't have to file them down.  I don't have patience for that right now.

The new grips do not grip my shirt the way the hogue grips do when I carry it IWB.

No gap, no filing, that's good news!

Bad news is the new grips are pretty rough, and feel like sand paper when carrying IWB.  I'll have to figure something out, because it's pretty hot in GA in the Summer.  I like to go out with just a t-shirt.
