The Vtac is cool but not for me.

However the x5 full size or carry look great.

Now it's time to decide between a Legion 226 and a X series.

I just have to figure out how to get the $$$$

I already sold my excess guns to afford my Legion 229

Any word if $900 MSRP is correct?

Not for me either.

I'd rather take a stock 320 and make it mine, but I can see why some would like this package.  The slide treatment doesn't make any sense other that its for looks, not for "slide lightening".  Not saying doesn't have "cool factor", just call it that and don't give some BS excuse.  And those sights.    I've never seen a set in person, but damn those things look busy.

I wonder if you can use the X frame on a regular 320? It appears the slide stop is in a different location (and better IMO).

Not saying you're wrong, but source?

I was informed by a few guys in the know that they would be interchangeable, but that it will be forever before sig actually sells x frames individually.

I just bought a P320c a little bit ago.  I was looking at buying a Full Size P320, but I'll probably wait until the X-Five and X-VTAC come out and play with these and see if I want one of those or a regular P320 Full Size.

I would be a happy camper with a P320RX with an X5 frame, in OD Green.

Parts of the X-series P320's ARE 100% interchangeable with "standard" P320 parts.  Having or or the other doesn't "obsolete" or negate you from using and/or interchanging with the other.

X-series is not shipping yet, no.

"standard" and "X" FCU are the same thing - just different triggers.  So, yes, a standard FCU will fit the X grip module and vice versa.

Hold on and ill snap a couple of pics.

Thanks so much for all the info here good sir.

Couple more questions if I may.
Are they the same actual mags as the other 21 rounders, and can the floor plates be easily swapped?

Also can the jet funnel, or whatever they're calling it, be easily removed?
Looks like a really ergonomic grip, just seems like it'd be a bit of a bitch to CCW with the beavertail and jet funnel...

Nah, it's not you.

So I heard some chatter back innaday about the what-would-now-be-known as the X Series not being backwards compatible with the "standard" P320 line. I thought I read this on Soldier Systems but now I can't find the link. This was pre-M17 win. You say "there isn't much that is NOT interchangeable" but I'm wondering what those things are: What *are* the non-interchangeable bits? Can I put a Non-X barrel in an X-Slide? (this is my biggest question, as I'm thinking of buying a C-TB  or Carry-Tacops now and buying an X-Carry when they drop, swapping barrels).

The FCU's appear interchangeable as units, so I'm not concerned about changing out individual FCU components, but the major assemblies I'm interested in compatibility data.

The mags that come with the X5 are 21rd, but they have a different floor plate from the 21rd that ship with the TACOPS models.  The floor plate from either can easily be removed (like any other magazine floor plate).

Here are some pics of the X5 21rd mags:

Broken down

TACOPS 21rd on the left, X5 21rd on the right.  The X5 basepad is a slimmer profile that tapers at the top, to be compatible with the magwell/X5 grip mod

The mag well is easily removed, just a simple allen screw in the back of the grip mod.  Also, the X5 will ship with grip weights, for those interested in using it in competition.

Ah, I'm tracking now.  No, you are correct.  When this pistol was originally kinda/sorta shown off at SHOT 2016, it was called the "P320 Target" and it was NOT compatible with "standard" P320 components. It was really just a concept, at that point.  However, when interest boomed and engineers got more serious, plans for production were introduced and compatibility with standard P320 components were a must.  Hence where we are today with the "X Series"

Putting a standard barrel in an X slide, shouldn't be an issue (assuming length compatibility, of course), but going the other way (X barrel in a standard slide) will, as a general rule, not work - this is due to the X coming with larger profile barrels, etc.

The X5 21rd mags will work in any size/standard 320.  The only issue you'll have with mags is trying to use an non-X5 in an X5.

The mag bodies of the X5 and TACOPS 21rd mags are the same - it's the extension/bottom plate that's different.

Oh damn I'm stupid. For some reason I thought you meant the mag BODY was tapered, I realize you meant the base pad now. But great info nonetheless. Thanks again so much. I'm very interested in this new grip profile, and looking into it a bit more has me pretty intrigued by the X Carry model. So many possibilities with this platform in general, it's very exciting.

Since I haven't asked enough questions, any chance you can give us any kind of shooting report?

Nice!!
Took a training class a couple weeks ago with my 320c and the instructor was talking about how he shot the X5 at SHOT Show and that he was planning on buying one when it comes out. Said it was incredibly smooth and flat shooting. Definitely got my interest piqued!

I had decided to "pull the trigger", so to speak, on a new P320. However, I like the frame of the X much better, the only thing I don't like is the flat trigger.

Now I'm stuck, not sure which way to go. I was just about to buy a P320F-9-BSS. Now the X frame is calling me, but I don't like the trigger shape.

Fairly certain I'm going to "invest" a fair amount in the 320 line. Just not sure about my strategy any more.

Didn't really want to get back into sigs. But I collect military sidearms and now have to add this.
The VTAC P320 seems the least objectionable to me. I hated the P250 I had, I hope this is some kind of improvement.

Buy a 320C (compact) now for EDC, range, whatever.

But a 32X5 when available/funds allow.  You're FCU from your 320C will plug right into your X5 frame (see my pic above).  If you just flat out don't want your X5 FCU, i'm sure it would command a pretty $ on the EE (you can't purchase any FCU separate from a complete package firearm).
