I posted awhile back that I purchased my first Sig, a P228. I shot it some then made some changes to make it suit me better. The first things were a short trigger and new springs. I used a 19 lb.hammer spring instead of the stock 24 lb. Then came the SRT kit, Heinie black sights and refinishing. I'm a happy guy. http://i.imgur.com/9UX9qgnm.jpg I was thinking about having mine refinished, what did it run you and did you have Sig refinish it? |

I have four 228's, including two West German manufactured. As the poster above said it is NOT the same as a 229. Much better feel, perfect balance and one of the most accurate handguns I own.
I have used the Sig Service Plan to get the oldest ones brought back to life - new springs, full clean and night sights. Although I have other Sigs (220 Combat) and great pistols from other manufacturers (HK USP's, HK P7's, CZ PCR, multiple 1911s....) I just keep going back to the 228's. |

I did everything except the refinishing and a local company did it for $175.00 |

People just don't get what great guns they really are and they aren't the same as a P229. They have a different balance and feel. Balance is one of the most underrated qualities in a handgun I will never sell my 1994 model Mine is a 1993 model. I never guessed there was much difference between the two. |

I bought one right around that time. Still have it...and it is pristine. It is my hands-down favorite pistol. I gave up trying to find a backup in as good condition, so I bought an M11A1 this week. It's pretty much a P229 with a narrower slide, P228 grips, an SRT, night sights, and no rail...but it will have to do. I couldn't turn it down for under $800 shipped given that Sig is throwing in an extra 2 mags for buying a pistol this month. |
