This Saturday I got to try out my nephews (Gary) new GSR.  I've been looking forward to this as Gary was not very happy with the GSR upon its arrival from Sig (he ordered the gun unseen).

Gary's inspection of the GSR out of the box showed some serious lack of quality control issues. The hammer was crooked in the frame and rubbing on both the frame and slide. The grip safetly was also cockeyed and gritty feeling when depressed. Numerous blemishes were apparent on the frame itself.

A call to Sig got the GSR on the path to recovery with some excellant customer relations work from Sig. They spent a good amount of time with Gary talking about the GSR project, it's problems and growing pains as well as the steps taken to bring the GSR to the state of quality all other Sig products have earned a reputation for. They promised complete Satisfaction.

Sig paid for shipping bothways, with the GSR being shipped out on Friday. IT WAS BACK ON THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY!

All issues with the pistol had been addressed. Fit and finish were now flawless and it was time to head to the range. The fist trip out and Gary reported that the GSR functioned perfectly with zero malfunctions and exceptional accuracy thru 400 rounds of Winchester fmj.

My first look and the GSR impressed me. No sharp edges, excellant fit and obvious attention to detail.
The grip safety hump is a little odd looking but felt fine though definetly different. The trigger pull is what really impressed the heck out of me. While I didn't put it to a scale I'd bet money on it breaking at 4lbs. And it breaks like glass with no creep. Truely outstanding for out of the box with only 400 rounds thru it.

At 15 yards (longest distance available at the Gun Gallery in Jax, which is my favorite indoor range ) my first eight rounds were dead center 10 ring on a B34 reduced sillouhete target .

The sights shoot to point of Aim and the weight of the weapon is slightly front heavy allowing for reduced muzzle flip and very fast recovery time on target.

While not my pick for a CCW piece I would definetly feel secure carrying this for Duty.

I have to give this GSR  .....three thumbs up
