My agency has switched to a SIG P226. After 50,000+ rounds through my M&P I'm having severe issues with two things: slide stop/release and decocking lever.

I realize that the general thought is to shift my dominant thumb over slightly to reduce pressure on the slide stop, but I've also seen people throwing out the idea of replacing the 226 slide stop with a X-Five slide stop. How are the two different from each other?

Also, what suggestions do you have with regards to the decocking lever? I take a very aggressive grip with my less dominant hand, and ultimately what happens is that as the gun recoils, it drives up slightly into the meat of my palm. The slight pressure that is ultimately applied to the decocking lever, causes ever so slight assistance on the hammer dropping. This slight assistance is enough to cause light primer strikes mid cadence, necessitating an immediate action drill.

I'm hoping the Hive can provide a couple of answers to the questions I had and maybe provide a few suggestions.

A few guys in my Department have removed the slide stop lever, and that got rid of the finger riding up and not allowing for lock back when empty.   As far as the decocker, not sure.
