Anyone know the difference between gen 1 and 2?

I know the piston rod assembly is a little different. Gen 1s threaded on and Gen 2s use a clocking mechanism. The issue was it was difficult to remove the threaded portion as it would want to seize. I can attest to this as my 516 is a gen 1 and after a three day rifle class where I put over 2000 rounds through it I had this issue. It was very difficult to unthread. I put a punch through the hole and was able to remove it but was nervous the threads would strip. They didn't, but I learned and put some anti-seize on the threads and haven't had an issue since.

There may be other differences, but I know that's at least one. You may want to check out this Sig Rifle subforum.
