I recently bought a used P220. It's a German manufactured gun with the stamped slide. I've noticed a problem when dry-firing the gun that the trigger does not always reset.
If I dry-fire the gun, keep the trigger depressed, rack the slide and point the gun downward while releasing the trigger, then the trigger will not reset at all. Any suggestions on what's wrong with the gun? I'm thinking that this is probably an issue with a bad spring somewhere? |

No smith/armorer, but I'd take off the right grip panel and check the trigger bar spring. The trigger bar spring end could not be in the right notch or more than likely, you have a buggered up hammer stop and hammer return spring. I bought a used police trade in p220 from 2002 and the hammer return spring was the problem. head over to brown-ells and look up what you need in their schematic then google "stevepages" and get a .pdf copy of the Sig armorer manual and replace it yourself. shouldn't cost you more than $12.00. I would also get a spring kit and replace the recoil spring assembly and the roll pins that hold the breech block in place. |
