Hey guys I have been shooting my new 228 for a lil while with used 228 mags from CDNN. I have been having a lil problem sometimes with the last shot holding back feature. Could this be due to maybe weak mag springs? The gun was dropped once on the ground in the water and mud during a COF. I cleaned it up inside and out. Ty for the help

| This is probably not your problem but I find my right thumbs is to high and puts just enough pressure on the slide release to keep it from locking back. I had been shooting my 1911 alot and resting my thumb on its safety while shooting and the habit carried over. Took awhile to figure it out, at first I thought it was worn out mags too. |
Took about 2 boxes of ammo for me to figure that was my problem also. |
Well I have had a older 228 gun and had not one malfunction that I know of. I hold my new gun the same ,but I will keep my eyes open to my grip. It could be my after market Dragon barrel too. I used it in my old gun as well and no problem and I have a Mercury filled guide rod too, but it worked good in my old gun. I will run it for some time with the orginal barrel and guide rod to see if it does it again. Ty for the help.

Check the follower in that mag that's causing the problem. Look at the edge on the follower where it pushes up on the slide lock lever in the gun. Sometimes on last shot the slide lock lever will slip off to the side and not be pushed up by a mag follower that doesn't have enough edge to bite. You should see where the follower is marred a little where the slide lock lever is slipping off if this is the case. Fix is to replace with a mag or mag follower that works. |
