I'm looking at the Sig 2022(product number E2022-9-TSS) and I don't want to be stuck with a gimped commie gun. 1. Does it have integrated safety locks? 2. Does it have magazine safety locks? 3. What kind of unconventional overbearing safety does it have? 4. How bad does the 10lbs DA Safety handle? |

Have you ever handled a TDA pistol with a frame mounted decocker? |

I only have one Sig in my collection and that's a P6. I do own a number of pistols that have decocker. Is the trigger worst than the P6? I'm asking the questions because there so many different type of the same model. S&W is M&P is the worst in regard of different production of the same model. Is not like the old days where you can pick up a handgun without worrying about it being gimped. It forced me to waste a lot of time doing research on the gun I want. I did emailed the seller but he never reply. Sig don't have an email address and their website is not helpful. |

Well the E tends to come with 15 round magazines and the TSS means it is a two tone model with night sights. It's the same pistol regardless. The DA pull has some takeup, but is smooth. The P225/P6 would have aorund the same 10-12 pound pull, but I like the way the 2022 feels in my hand. You can also get different grips to accommodate larger hands. The only thing I will say that might be negative about the SigPro is that the decocker travel might be a bit long if you have sm/med sized hands. AFAIK, only the older 2009 was ever offer with an additional slide mounted safety, but that was in the late 90's/early 00's. |

Most SIGs have a firing pin safety that is deactivated as you pull the trigger, but no manual safeties. The trade off is the heavier first DA pull. There is an unobtrusive LCI (loaded chamber indicator) on the top.
The SP2022 is not much different than the classic P series. However, the trigger does seem to need to travel further back before breaking. And there is no SRT (short reset trigger) option for the SP2022. So there is a longer reset than a SRT SIG, but it isn't bad at all. The SP2022's trigger is often touted as one of it's best features. I just picked up the same pistol that you are looking at (for $350 plus shipping and xfer) and dry-firing it, the trigger is just about as smooth as my 1994 P229 that has been well used. A lot of people seem to say the SP2022 has one of the best DA/SA factory triggers out there. I won't be able to shoot it until Saturday, so I can't give any range report. Mine has the same product number (two-tone, night sights), with a manufacture date of Feb 2014. It has an external extractor and came with a paddle holster, but only one mag. The holster isn't like some terrible Fobus POS, but I'd rather have had a second mag. I'm sure you know what the SP2022 looks like in two-tone, but here's an obligatory pic or two: In the second photo, I found the medium grips to be too small (pistol only comes with small and medium grips) and no one has the large in stock (SIG wanted $50!). In the meantime I picked up some discontinued grips from the SP2340/SP2009 era with some rubber inserts. Not as grippy as the Hogues I like on my P229 & P228 but added enough girth for my large hands to work the trigger better and left some more room for my support hand. But having large hands, I always seem to be going bigger when everyone else is trying to go smaller. On that note, my SP2022 came with the standard trigger. If you have smaller hands, there is a short-reach trigger (not to be confused with the SRT) that is easily installed. Some come with the short one installed. Dunno if there's a rhyme or reason to it. Medium stippled grip: versus the rubberized grip: The only other thing I can add is that take-down for field stripping is a little trickier than the classic P series. It's a little 1911-ish, but with the slide under spring tension. Just takes a little getting used to. Oh, almost forgot...there's also the current SIG rebate/promotion: 2 free mags + a bag |
